The Negroni’s best-known origin story begins in Florence in 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked bartender Fosco Scarselli to give his favourite Americano a stronger character. Gin replaced soda water, and a cocktail legend was born: the distinctive combination of gin, red vermouth and bitter aperitif.
With our Buddon Spirits range we carry that story forward with an ingredient you cannot rush: time.
Our Negroni is aged in Scotland for three years in ex-bourbon casks, allowing the cocktail to spend three full years in contact with oak that has already lived a life holding bourbon. It brings together Italy’s aperitivo tradition, Scotland’s connection to cask maturation, and our own curiosity about what happens when a familiar classic takes a different journey.
